The State of Hip Hop

Updated: Mar 22, 2018

Its a huge day for the black Hip hop community on January 28, 2018. I know I know it sounds funny to have to reference black and Hip Hop but sadly in 2018 "They" have been striving to give Hip Hop off in another Americas auction with the rest of our inventions.

This is the first year ever that the 'Album of the year" category is filled with black excellence and curiosity around the winner of. So much so the surprise will be neatly tucked away until Grammy night.

“And the Winner is.....”

A very awkward night for Hip Hops living legend Jay-z, The committee decided not to give him the nod despite his numerous nominations. Some assumed since he was honored as a Song Writer leading up to the Grammy's that he would at least walk away with one award.

Grammy Sweeps

Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars Took Turns sweeping the competition as they totaled 10 Grammy's (Mars 6, Lamar 4). With much due respect and well deserved acknowledgement, Bruno Mars managed to reignite an Era of music, the sound of the "Before years" New Jack Swing.

Kendrick Lamar on the other hand has been the leading force enforcing real Hip Hop in our modern day microwaveable era. On the DAMN. album, no pun intended he manged to tell a story from beginning to end and from the end to the beginning, stunning. While also creating a radio melodic masterpiece with Rihanna, we can't do anything but expect more amazing music from K.Dot.
